Memphis Made Brewing

There are so many good things about Memphis, and I could spend time naming them all, but I will talk about one thing in particular that is starting to create a big stir in town…beer.

I was able to meet up with the guys from Memphis Made Brewing Company and learn a little about their operation and the method behind the madness.

I was able to meet up with Andy, Drew, Alex and of course Stella (the cute dog) at the brewery and got to see how they get their brewing on.

Andy and Drew were born and raised in Memphis while Alex is from Washington State. Memphis Made is not only the beer, Memphis Made is what they are. Andy home-brewed during college, and then went on to work as a bartender for a while in London. Drew started brewing professionally in Ashville, NC. Eventually destiny would bring them together to start Memphis Made Brewing Company. Not even 2 months after entering the market, things started getting crazy; that’s when they added Alex to the mix, and continued the brewing magic.

So far they only have 12 accounts in Memphis. Most of their beers right now are “seasonal” beers. You can find Fireside Ninja at Sliders Inn. According to Drew, “right now we are just changing it up and bringing some different things to the market.”

I was able to try one of their beer not too long ago, Fireside Ninja, and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed it.

While I was there, they were brewing a coffee stout beer with coffee beans from a local roaster, Reverb Coffee; they roasted some beans specially for beer brewing.

If you want to try their beer, you should hit up some of these great local restaurants:

Aldo’s Pizza Pies
Bar DKDC
Bardog Tavern
Cash Saver (Midtown)
Celtic Crossing
Central BBQ (Central)
Central BBQ (Downtown)
Flying Saucer (Cordova)
Flying Saucer (Downtown)
The Growler Memphis
Tamp & Tap
The Slider Inn
Sweet Grass Next Door
Young Avenue Deli

Right now, they are a draft-only brewery, and the only two ways to get it are by the glass or by picking up a growler on the way home. You can also stop by and get one of the coolest shirts in town. I got one with their zip code 3810POUR.

Don’t forget to check them out on facebook, Memphis Made Brewing Company
